Scoreboard

How we score

The whole method, so you can check it.

1. Picks are captured before the draw

Shortly before each official draw (13:49 and 18:49 South African time) we read each listed source's public page and copy the number sets it is showing for that draw. Each set is stored with the time we read it, the page we read it from and a hash of all three. The first capture is the one that counts; a later change on the source's page changes nothing here. Anything read within ten minutes of the draw, or after it, is thrown away.

2. Results are the recorded draws

The draw results are BetTip's own record, collected from more than one source and held back until they agree. The same record feeds every results page on this site.

3. Hits, and what chance expects

A pick's hits are how many of its numbers landed among the six main balls. The bonus ball is shown but not scored. Six of forty-nine balls are drawn, so each number picked lands with probability 6/49: chance expects 0.73 hits a draw from six numbers and 0.37 from three. "Versus chance" is total hits divided by total expected, which is why a three-number pick and a six-number pick can be compared.

4. Ranking

Ranked by versus-chance among entrants with at least 10 graded draws; ties by draws graded. Below 10 draws a source is shown but not ranked, because a handful of draws says nothing about anyone. A random six, from a fixed formula anyone can recompute, sits in the list as the baseline. Over enough draws every honest method sits near it.

5. BetTip's own systems

BetTip's published rules (the Kwik Pick band sets, the most-frequent six, the overdue six, the balanced six) are graded the same way. Their picks for past draws are reconstructed by applying the rule to the draws that existed before each draw, which is exactly what the page would have shown then; the row says "reconstructed" so nobody mistakes it for a capture.

What this is not

  • Not a prize. Nothing is ever awarded for a rank or a hit rate, to anyone, and no source pays to be ranked. A source's owner may claim the listing for a badge and a link; that changes nothing about its place, its grading or its picks.
  • Not a forecast. A UK49s draw is random; a good month is a good month, not a method.
  • Not a claim about any source. The numbers are theirs, the results are the draw's, the arithmetic is public.
